DR. PHILLIPS MATCH |
The varsity bowling teams and the boys JV team had a match on Monday, September 25, against Dr. Phillips, with all three teams earning another win. The girl’s varsity team began the match a little sluggish, with lower than normal scores from the team. The second game showed the Lady Darters gaining composure and adjustment to the conditions, with two girls bowling over 170. By the final game, the total for all five bowlers reached 908, the high game of the day. The high game for the day was a 247 from Christina Cordello, and the high series was a 531 from Ashley Kleier. The final score of the match was 2324-1863, increasing the girl’s record to 8-0. The boys varsity maintained their perfect season by defeating Dr. Phillips 2658-2472. The boys, too, struggled with the lane conditions, with a low first game total of 828, outscoring Dr. Phillips by only 27 pins. After substitution of two starters, the team pulled up their score to a 930 in the second game. The third game, with the two starters returning, ended with a 900 for the final game. Jon Ladines had the high series with a 588 while Cory Mullica had the high game with a 234. The record for the boys remains perfect at 8-0. The boys JV team recorded another victory with a win against Dr. Phillips. Due to transportation problems, the team began the match with only four bowlers. With adjustments to the lane conditions, Joseph Cummins rolled a team high game of 195 and series high 459. All six bowlers had an opportunity to bowl in the match, giving them the chance to experience a ten-pin match. Dr. Phillips used only four bowlers, so totals were not kept for their team. The JV boys are now 7-1 for the season. |

Coaches Comments:Boy's Varsity: Only two boys, Jon (Ladines) and Shaun (Barnett), scored consistently good games. The other bowlers had inconsistent scoring as they, too, struggled with the lane conditions. The low scores by the rest of the team were very inconsistent with their abilities and proof that they need the experience of different lane conditions to better their skills for future competition and preparation for tournament play. Girl's Varsity: All teams seemed to have problems with the different lane conditions, the oil pattern, and the slippery approaches. CC (Cardello) and Ashley (Kleier) turned in some nice scores, proving that they could adapt to different lane conditions. Boys JV: As with the varsity, the lane conditions gave the young bowlers an opportunity to learn how to adjust to conditions different from what they are used to bowling on at their home Center. This will benefit them in the future as they improve on their skills. |

Coaches Comments:Boy's Varsity: The boys were worried that their scores would not hold up with Colonial’s boys bowling high scores in the final game, but their cushion from game two saved them. This was our high series as they almost reached 3100. Four of the five starters bowled well over a 200 average as they were hungry to get the high series. Girl's Varsity: All girls were motivated to keep their winning streak alive as they rolled the first two games. However, they lost some of their edge in the final game as all scores began to drop except for Jenna’s. Luckily we had built a good lead and were still able to outscore Colonial. Boy's JV: The mark percentages were not as good as in some matches, but the team is showing improvement as they work together and share in the victory. After the first two games, they improved their scores and had really nice games. |
