OCOEE MATCH

On Tuesday, the bowling teams continued their winning as they met Ocoee. The girls match was easily decided with a 2223 to 1631 score, improving their record to 4-0. Ashley Kleier led the team with a 203 game to start the match; the girls combined for a 735 total pin count. They continued rolling nice scores and improved to an 818 second game before losing momentum in the final game.

The varsity boys also were victorious, defeating Ocoee 2678 to 2527, also maintaining their perfect record at 4-0. The Ocoee team gave the Apopka team quite a battle, keeping the scores close until the final game. Chris Zugelder, with two strings of five strikes each, had the high series at 644 and the high game of 235.

The boys JV were also successful in defeating Ocoee 805-708. The first two games of the Baker match were close, with the lead changing after each game. In the third game, however, Apopka’s boys put together a nice run to end the game with a 214 score, including five strikes to end the game and only two opens. Shaun Barnett led the boys with 90% marks; Joseph Cummins also rolled a nice series with seven strikes and only three opens. Ocoee’s team put together a nice 176 opener and 168 closing game.

Coaches Comments:

Girl's Varsity: The girls are bowling some really nice games and have proven they are out to win. They are working together well and are all trying to make the starting line-up. I am trying to give all of the girls a chance to bowl, so substitutions are made after each game to give everyone the experience that we will need to continue winning.

Boy's Varsity: Our boys were having problems on the lanes and couldn’t seem to get their usual string of strikes started. I didn’t get the same high scores from some of my strong bowlers today, allowing Ocoee to keep it close the first two games before we finally bowled up to par in the final game.

Boy's JV: The boys bowled much better and gained stabilization with the addition of Shaun as the anchor. The experience that Shaun brought to the team really helped; his leadership gave the team the boost that they needed to secure the victory.
